University of Finance and Administration
The University of Finance and Administration (UFA) was founded by the Bank Academy and Czech Coal Group in 1999 in accordance with state approval to act as a private institution of higher education. Since then it has been developing continuously. In 2001, its study centres in Most and Kladno were opened. A year later MBA study programs were launched in cooperation with City University Seattle (USA). Another year later the school set up Eupress, a publishing house producing study materials and books. In March 2003 UFA acquired accreditation for follow-up Master studies. In the course of its first 5 years the school became the biggest private institution of higher education in the CR in terms of the number of both students and teachers.
In 2009, the University of Finance and Administration received state approval for Doctoral study program and became the first private University of Economics in the Czech Republic.
Currently, about 5 600 students are enrolled.
Apart from Bachelor and Master study programmes, it also provides doctoral studies and has a well worked-out system of lifelong learning. Its study orientation makes it well suited to the MOSUR project. In addition, it focuses intensively on the issue of developing public economic literacy, which is part of one of the pillars of the Sustainable Development Strategy of the Czech Republic (Czech government, 2004).
The University of Finance and Administration is currently working with several research institutions and innovative enterprises. It is interested in becoming a part of the MOSUR interdisciplinary sustainable development platform and wants to contribute to its expansion. The UFA has two branches in the Czech Republic: in Kladno and in Most. Students at these branches and staff whose place of work is Most and Kladno will be linked to the project in the role of target groups.
